Materials and Production Process

04/08/2020

It's no secret – and many already know – that the products created at Pika.lv carpentry are 100% handmade. The only exception is CNC milling services, performed by a computer following human instructions, but everything else is done with careful handwork and monitored with a keen eye.

In this article, we want to introduce our current and future customers to the production process and materials we use.

We approach our work with great responsibility and always strive for the highest precision – as if we were making it for ourselves, for our children, wives, mothers, and mothers-in-law. :)

Since the very beginning, we have significantly improved our workflow and overall methodology. Special attention is given to the materials we use. We purchase only premium-class, high-quality carpentry materials from trusted partners in Alūksne and use only ecologically neutral, nature- and human-friendly paints.

Currently, our carpentry uses specially dried and prepared furniture-grade materials to ensure outstanding quality of the final product.

Our trusted partner in Alūksne, following Pika.lv's requirements and standards, prepares the material to the necessary specifications, carefully packages it, and delivers it to us. Here, we further process it into parts, make drillings, sand the surfaces, and prepare everything for painting.

Of course, the painting cycle is also done by hand. After sanding, each part is hung on a stand, carefully cleaned, and then the painting process begins. Only water-based paints are used, all certified by the EU and approved by health specialists. In this way, we protect ourselves during work and you and your children during the use of the furniture or toys.

We are responsible towards the environment we live in, and during our time on this planet, we strive not to leave a negative footprint.
